10 cm single-colored stockinette stitch on needle 4.5 mm = 18 stitches
10 cm stranded colorwork on needle 5 mm = 18 stitches
Most people knit tighter when doing stranded colorwork than when knitting single-colored stockinette stitch. I have therefore included in the pattern that you should go up half a needle size when knitting stranded colorwork. Gauge varies from person to person, so always knit a swatch before you begin.
