10 cm stockinette stitch plain on 6 mm needles = 14 stitches
10 cm colorwork on 7 mm needles = 14 stitches
Most people knit tighter in colorwork than they do in plain stockinette stitch. Therefore, I have included in the pattern that you should go up half a needle size when knitting colorwork. Gauge varies from person to person, so always knit a swatch before you begin.
