Gauge
10 cm stockinette stitch with single color on 6 mm needles = 14 stitches
10 cm colorwork on 6.5 mm needles = 14 stitches
Most people knit tighter when doing colorwork than when doing single-color stockinette. I have therefore included in the pattern that you should go up half a needle size when knitting colorwork. Gauge varies from person to person, so always knit a swatch before you begin.
Yarn: Vams from Rauma
Yarn alternative: Hipwool from HipKnitShop. If you are knitting with Hipwool, I recommend going up half a needle size so the sweater is knitted on 6.5 and 7 mm needles. Remember to knit a swatch before you start to ensure you have the correct gauge. HipWool is a very soft yarn but is much denser than Vams. If you plan to move a lot in the sweater, I recommend using Vams as it breathes much more.
