Baby Alasuq (digital pattern)

Alasuq was first published in my first book, Wilderness Sweaters. Now I have made a pattern for Baby-Alasuq in sizes 1-12 months. In the pattern, you will find a list of different yarns you can use depending on use and season. English pattern here.

Sizes 1-3 (3-6) 6-9 (12) months

Gauge
10 cm stockinette stitch with 3 mm needles = 28 stitches
10 cm colorwork with 3.5 mm needles = 28 stitches

Most people knit tighter when doing colorwork than when knitting plain stockinette stitch. Therefore, I have included in the pattern that you should go up half a needle size when knitting colorwork. Gauge varies from person to person, so always knit a swatch before you begin.

Yarn for Baby-Alasuq
Below I have provided an overview of which yarns you can use to knit Baby-Alasuq. If you have a very small baby, I recommend merino yarn, but if you have a baby who has started exploring outdoors, you can choose a yarn that can withstand a bit more wear and tear, such as Lamull from Rauma or Tynn Peer Gynt (you can certainly knit the neck in merino wool so it doesn't itch). If you are knitting Alasuq for summer use, you can advantageously choose a cotton yarn.

100% merino yarn: Sunday from Sandnes garn (100% merino), Merino from Knitting for Olive (100% merino), Gepard all day organic (100% merino), Light merino from Untold (100% merino), Alpakka picasso tweed from Vikinggarn (Alpaca 30%, Merino 30%, Donegal 20%, Nylon 20%).

100% wool yarn: Pure eco baby wool from Dale garn (100% wool), Filcolana Saga (100% lamb wool from New Zealand), Lamull from Rauma (100% Norwegian wool), Tynn Peer Gynt (100% Norwegian wool).

Yarn with cotton: Lille lerke from Dale garn (merino wool and cotton), Cotton merino from Knitting for Olive (merino wool and cotton), Bambino from Vikinggarn (50% bamboo and 50% cotton), Mandarin Petit from Sandnes Garn (100% cotton), Tynn Line from Sandnes Garn (53% cotton, 33% viscose and 14% linen).

Double-pointed needles 2.5 and 3 mm
Circular needle 40 cm 2.5 mm, 3 mm and 3.5 mm
Optionally, a 50 cm circular needle for the largest sizes.
