Gauge
10 cm in stockinette stitch with single colour, needle 3.5 mm = 22 stitches
10 cm in colourwork, needle 4 mm = 22 stitches
Most knitters tend to knit tighter when working with colourwork than when working stockinette stitch with a single colour. Therefore, I have included in the pattern that you should go up half a needle size when knitting colourwork. Gauge varies from person to person, so always knit a swatch before you begin.
Recommended needles
Double-pointed needles 3 mm, 3.5 mm, and 4 mm.
Circular needle 50 cm or 60 cm long (depending on size) 3 mm, 3.5 mm, and 4 mm.
Circular needle 40 cm long 3 mm and 4 mm.
